Kidde Expects Profit Increase

Citing a U.S. consumer awareness campaign and new safety legislation, fire detection and safety device manufacturer Kidde PLC expects to report full-year profits. The expectation comes in accordance with previous predictions after it continued to trade ahead of last year in the first six months of the year.

Residential and commercial division sales, which accounted for around 15 percent of group turnover last year, have grown strongly, the company said.

Slated to be enforced this year, U.S. legislation requiring every dwelling in New York City and Alaska must be outfitted with carbon monoxide alarms should increase demand, Kidde expects.
