Kidde has recalled as many as 1.2 million hard-wired smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms.
The company decided to pull the alarms after it discovered the devices failed to alert users of a fire or a carbon monoxide incident following a power outage, The Valley Gazette reports.
No injuries have been reported.
Recalled models include:
- Smoke alarm i12010S, manufactured between Dec. 18, 2013 and May 13, 2014
- Combination smoke/CO alarm model il2010SCO, manufactured between Dec. 30, 2013 and May 13, 2014
- Combination smoke/CO alarm model KN-COSM-IBA, manufactured between Oct. 22, 2013 and May 13, 2014
The model number, as well as the manufacture dates, are printed on the back of the alarm.
Individuals who purchased a recalled model should contact Kidde for a replacement; however, the company advises consumers to continue using the recalled alarms until the replacements are installed.
