Welcome to the inaugural entry in the Integrated Thoughts blog on SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION online. In my monthly SSI column, “Convergence Channel,” I try to take IP networking and physical security concepts and bridge the gap between the two industries. I believe it benefits everyone to understand the basics and even more advanced concepts of these two industries. Education is always a good thing.
Here in the blog, however, I’m looking to take a different approach. What I’m going to discuss here are technologies and concepts that are used to merge different systems together. I will be talking about, and looking for your input on, different ways we can all maximize our value to our customers by giving them the most “bang for the buck.”
IP networking has created, and is continuing to create, new ways of connecting various systems together, to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Not everything we talk about has to be IP-related, however. There’s still lots of analog out there.
Like most blogs, this is designed to be a two-way conversation. I would love to hear from you if you have used the technologies we discuss, regardless of whether or not it was successful. I want to hear from you, positive or negative. Feedback is a great tool for improvement.
