Leviton Manufacturing Mourns Loss of CEO and Chairman Harold Leviton
LITTLE NECK, N.Y.
Leviton Manufacturing Co. announces the passing of its Chairman and CEO Harold Leviton, age 90.
Leviton began his career in the electrical industry at his family’s Greenpoint, Brooklyn, factory after graduating from the University of Miami. In 1965, Leviton became president, CEO and chairman of the company.
Leviton led the company for 42 years, producing more than 25,000 products used in homes, businesses and industrial facilities. He was also an outspoken advocate for safety standards in the electrical industry and served on several industry associations and civic boards, including serving as the chairman of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Wiring Device Section and Building and Equipment Division, an honorary member of its board of governors and chairman of the Electrical Manufacturing Council.
In addition, he served as vice chairman emeritus for the National Electrical Safety Foundation (NESF).
