A partnership has been formed between Leviton Manufacturing Co. and Dedicated Devices Inc. (DDI) to produce a new class of device to turn ordinary structured wiring and data networks into fully capable Internet protocol (IP) Structured Media™ networks.

Leviton and DDI officials say the alliance is an attempt to deliver the “digital home of tomorrow.” “The ‘Smart Home’ has been over promised and under-delivered in the past,” said Jeffrey K. Moeser, president and CEO of the Boise-based Dedicated Devices, in a statement. “With the combination of infrastructure wiring installs reaching critical mass – along with significant advances in technology in the areas of entertainment, communications and control – the time is right to deliver the first truly practical ‘edition’ of the next generation in home technology management.”
