Linear Acquires SpeakerCraft
CARLSBAD, Calif.
Linear Corp. announces it has acquired architectural speaker and custom installation products provider SpeakerCraft Inc. This acquisition is intended to strengthen Linear’s position as a supplier of in-wall speakers in the home entertainment business. Just six months earlier, Linear acquired multiroom audio/video specialists ELAN Home Systems. It also owns Xantech, ChannelPlus and OpenHouse.
Linear President Grant D. Rummell emphasized that the purchase of SpeakerCraft “isn’t about size, but about strength. Each acquisition during the past four years was made on the basis of [the company’s] core product capability and its ability to function both autonomously and as a member of the team.”
SpeakerCraft’s co-founder and executive vice president, Jeremy Burkhardt, will continue with the company and assume the position of president.
