Linear Corp., a subsidiary of Nortek Inc., has announced the acquisition of Xantech Corp., a privately held company headquartered in Sylmar, Calif. Xantech is a designer and manufacturer of residential infrared remote control systems for extending control of VCR, cable, satellite and stereo systems to multiple rooms throughout an entire household. The purchase comes less than a year after Linear acquired another manufacturer of home entertainment and automation products, MultiplexTechnology Inc.
“The addition of Xantech to Linear and MultiplexTechnology presents us with some excellent opportunities for joint marketing and crossover sales to custom installers, builders and consumers,” says Grant D. Rummell, Linear’s CEO. Linear is a pioneer in engineered radio frequency (RF) products, and is a worldwide supplier of wireless residential security systems, emergency/medical reporting systems, and commercial long-range wireless remote controls.
