The city of Little Rock, Ark., has started a new program to reduce the number of false alarm calls.
On Monday, the city announced it has partnered with Public Safety Corporation to implement a new False Alarm Reduction Program, according to a KARK 4 report.

Little Rock receives more than 35,000 alarm calls per year, with 95% amounting to false alarms. The problem wastes the time of officers on duty who could be responding to situations that truly warrant their attention.
“We’ve said all along that our top priority is not to make money regarding false alarms, it’s to further reduce alarm incidents,” Treasury Manager Scott Massanelli said.
Alarm users are currently allowed three false alarm calls a year, then it escalates to a series of graduated fines from $25 to $500.
Little Rock residents and businesses must register their alarm systems, with the city turning over registration and billing duties to CryWolf.
