Logan Airport Starts Security Pilot Program

BOSTON

Logan Airport, the largest transportation hub in New England, will begin a security pilot program incorporating an intelligent access control system.

The system, by authentication and tracking solutions provider GenuOne, is designed to provide Logan Airport with an instant “snapshot” of authorized vendors onsite at any given time, allowing a high level of security without slowing down people or products as they use the facility.

Upon successful completion of the pilot program, the parties hope the company’s IAC technology will provide Logan Airport with real-time authentication and tracking of designated vendors at high speeds and long distances in restricted and semirestricted areas.

The facility is visited by 26 million travelers and 800 million pounds of cargo a year and employs 16,000 people and its security presents a great technical challenge for Massport.
