Invensys, a global provider of home and building automation and controls, has announced an agreement with emWare Inc. of Utah to jointly develop and market ControlServer(tm). This new product will allow homeowners and business managers to control appliances, home entertainment equipment and systems, such as lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and security, from user-friendly interfaces throughout the home or business and from distant locations via the Internet. The combined technologies of the companies will enable users to interact with these devices via traditional interfaces as well as Web browsers, cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), televisions, databases and spreadsheets for data logging and information management. “We intend to be the first to market cost-effective products that allow remote control and operation of devices and systems throughout a home and we believe that the Internet will play a major role in the smart home of the future,” says Jim Mueller, Invensys CEO.
