LONDON – The London Overground Rail Operations Ltd. (LOROL) is in the process of implementing the Nextiva IP-based video solution from Melville, N.Y.-based Verint. The project will span 40 stations.
Verint will deploy more than 1,500 Nextiva IP cameras integrated with its Nextiva video management software. The solution will be integrated to a series of platform-based passenger “help-points” across the network of stations. The video will be managed from a central control room in London.
LOROL selected the Nextiva cameras in August 2009 after researching its application in the rail industry. The solution is designed to enhance passenger safety, deter vandalism and crime, and improve passenger rail travel experiences.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Amey, a public service provider working in the aviation, central government, defense, education, local government, rail and strategic highways sectors in the United Kingdom.
“Verint demonstrated the ability to provide end-to-end IP solutions and integrate seamlessly with other technologies on the network,” says Alistair Shutler, software manager, consulting for Amey. “The technical understanding of IP and CCTV that Verint has demonstrated, combined with the quality, robustness and reliability of the technology, were key factors in its appointment.”
