LONG BEACH, N.Y. — In an effort to save on personnel costs and reduce false alarms, officials here have hired a company to collect the fines the city charges for false alarms.
Irving, Texas-based PMAM Corp., a third-party contractor specializing in false alarm management solutions, will receive 24% of the city’s fine revenue, which could total more than $100,000 annually, reports Newsday.
Currently, city police respond to approximately 1,100 false alarms per year with fines starting at $100 per incident.
