Digital video management solutions provider Loronix Information Systems Inc. and ID technologies and systems provider Visionics Corp. have teamed up to integrate facial-recognition technology and video management technology for greater security capabilities.
Loronix’s CCTVware digital video platform manages data recorded by Visionics’ FaceIt® facial-recognition technology, which then may find a match for a known perpetrator’s face in its database. If that person has swiped an ID card or has made a transaction at a cash register, the Loronix system can link the photo with the transaction and compare the names associated with both to the database.
If the names associated with the photo and the transaction are not an exact match, an alarm is immediately triggered to alert security personnel to apprehend the perpetrator.
According to Dave Tynan, vice president of marketing and sales for Loronix, the technology allows personnel to react quickly to critical events, reducing investigation time and increasing productivity. “It creates a ‘digital fence’ that is essential to ensuring customer safety in any industry,” he says.
