MINNEAPOLIS – Low Voltage Contractors, based here, has launched a new sprinkler inspection and repair division following the addition of two recent hires.

The new division will be staffed by Mike Cruz and Brian Hoffman. Cruz comes to LVC with more than 30 years in the fire prevention and suppression industry. Hoffman most recently worked with the City of St. Paul (Minn.) as a fire protective systems inspector and is also known throughout the industry as an authority on sprinkler systems.

“We are lucky to have added such exceptional talent to our team while expanding the capabilities of our service department,” says Don Day, an LVC service manager. “The addition of our sprinkler division will allow us to inspect existing and new systems for compliance with fire codes and insurance requirements.”

LVC has previously explored a comprehensive sprinkler offering; however, at the time market conditions and company infrastructure did not support the addition to its portfolio, LVC Marketing Manager Robbie Danko tells SSI.

“For years LVC has built strong relationships with our clients through our Total Compliance Management product. TCM is a comprehensive program designed to simplify regulatory compliance requirements, increase system accountability and reduce business interruptions,” Danko explains. “Through that program we have subcontracted the sprinkler inspections and repairs. Capturing that alone we project a 10% increase in service department revenues. New customer acquisition will improve that projection.”

Using its current customer base as a market sampling, the company sees opportunity to grow in the health-care industry, data centers and retail. The TMC program has helped LVC to better understand the markets that are good for it to focus on, Danko says.

“For example, given the complex nature of regulatory compliance required in the health-care industry our TCM product is a needed solution,” she says. “With it we can provide a seamless inspection package covering all disciplines and provide documentation that can be accessed electronically within minutes.”
