Security Sales congratulates Tom Ludwig, owner of The Ludwig Co as the grand-prize winner of the 1999 Dealer Survey drawing. Ludwig qualified for the drawing by completing the magazine’s Dealer Survey, which was mailed to 1,500 installing companies throughout the United States. As a randomly chosen winner, Ludwig received a PalmPilot(r) V.

“The Palm V is a wonderful gift. I cannot thank your staff enough,” says Ludwig. “Most of us rarely win anything, but when that time comes, it’s important that everyone knows how grateful we are.”

The Ludwig Co. (a.k.a., Ludwig Alarm) began as Ludwig Lock & Security specializing in deadbolt locks. In 1975, the company garnered its first alarm contract in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and the business remained exclusively residential for the next few years.

Today, Ludwig Alarm services 200 accounts, which include such commercial clients as Lawrence Technological University and the NBC Television Network. According to Ludwig, there are more than 500 licensed alarm contractors in Michigan, many of which are small or even sole proprietorships.

“One of the most rewarding parts of this business is an invitation to make a presentation at one of the local high schools or universities,” he explains. Ludwig contends the opportunity to come and speak, one-on-one, with the next generation of alarm and security professionals is the best part of his job.“The industry is changing daily, and the only effective way to keep up with our advancing technology is with the help and efforts of our support group, like Security Sales,” he adds.
