Mace Security Int’l Inc., manufacturer of electronic
surveillance and personal surveillance products, has
expanded its portfolio after acquiring Miami, Fla.-based
CCTV manufacturer Securetek. The purchase price was listed
at $1.9 million.

Securetek manufactures DVRs, CCTV cameras, digital monitors
and security systems. Eduardo Nieves Jr., vice president of
marketing for Mace Security, says the acquisition will
continue to cement Mace’s name in video surveillance as
much as it is cemented in the minds of those who buy Mace’s
personal defense spray.

“The surveillance business was much larger than personal
defense business, even before this acquisition. We’re big
in DVRs, big in monitors and high-end cameras,” says
Nieves, who adds the pickup of Securetek will help expand
the Mace Authorized Dealer program. “We sell to dealers and
distributors. That’s our model.”

According to Nieves, Securetek will be “tucked-in” with
Mace’s existing business, though the Securetek name will be
retained on products for now. Securetek itself will be
relocated to the Mace Pro Surveillance operation in Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., and the Mace Pro Surveillance product
line will be introduced to Securetek customers.
