FRISCO, Texas — The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) will bestow the 2012 William N. Moody Award to two industry veterans — ADS Security Chairman and CEO Mel Mahler and COPS Monitoring Vice President of Special Projects Maria Malice.
Inducted into SSI’s Hall of Fame in 2009, Mahler has built one of the nation’s largest and most successful security companies. A former charter board member of SIAC, Mahler presently serves as co-chairman and treasurer of the organization, overseeing its day-to-day operations, raising money and promoting SIAC within the industry. He has engaged heavily representing the alarm trade at national, state and local law enforcement events to help build a stronger relationship between the industry and law enforcement.
In her role as president of the Arizona Alarm Association (AzAA), Malice has battled some of the most pressing issues facing the alarm industry. Since being in office, Malice worked with the city of Avondale, Ariz., to reverse the city’s ordinance to charge alarm companies for false alarms. She also led a successful effort to update the city of Tucson’s false alarm ordinance despite opposition from several local alarm dealers. In spite of heavy resistance, Malice was also victorious in winning passage of a state licensing law for alarm dealers allowing them to operate with one statewide license.
Held on June 26, the award presentation, along with the Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) and the CSAA Five Diamond Marketing MARVEL Awards, will take place during the ESX Industry IceBreaker Luncheon, a SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION-sponsored event.
Established in 2004, the William N. Moody Award recognizes individuals who are dedicated to alarm management issues.
