KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On the day the World Series is set to get underway, Major League Baseball has announced its plans for a “detailed” owners’ meeting to discuss fan safety.
The announcement comes during a season filled with several incidents where fans were injured as a result of foul balls or bats entering the stands. The meeting will be in Dallas on Nov. 18-19.

MLB is considering expanding the protective netting already used behind home plate, as detailed in a report by The Associated Press.
“We are prepared to have a very detailed presentation and conversation with the owners at the November meeting,” Commissioner Rob Manfred said on Monday.
“I’m not prepared prior to that meeting to make a pronouncement as to what the new rule is going to be, if any,” Manfred added. “I think it’s important that we have input and a full discussion among the clubs before we do that.”
Among the accidents at the ballpark this year was a June incident when a broken bat at Boston’s Fenway Park flew into the stands and hit a fan in the head, leaving the woman in serious condition. The woman survived her injuries.
