Weak security settings have mall video surveillance cameras under attack.
Hackers are able to exploit the security settings on the closed circuit television (CCTV) monitors to knock outside Web servers and applications offline. Cloud security company Imperva released a report on Wednesday detailing the attacks on surveillance cameras.
The report states cameras that don’t reset their default settings or have weak passwords are prime targets.
Almost 250 million video surveillance cameras were installed across the world last year. Experts say the opportunity to build in-secure technology from the start is now, rather than waiting to be caught up in an attack.
