A manager of a Long John Silver’s restaurant in Richardson,
Texas, defended himself and three teenage employees from
two robbers only to find that his actions were the cause of
his termination. When two men entered the restaurant, they
demanded the money from the register, according to the
Dallas Morning News.
The manager emptied the register and handed them around $500. He told the robbers to leave, but they persisted in demanding more money. The manager informed them there was no more money.
The manager then noticed that one of the men didn’t have a weapon. He quickly grabbed a hammer and struck one of the assailants. The burglars left and none of the employees were hurt.
The manager was put on two days probation by the restaurant, and then was fired for not following company policy and for endangering the lives of the other employees. “In my heart, I feel like I did the right thing. There ain’t no telling if I wouldn’t have did what the outcome might be … somebody probably be dead,” said the manager.
