ORLANDO, Fla. — Manufacturers and members of the PSA Security Network that purchase from them gathered at the 2005 PSA Security Network Conference and Expo, held concurrently from March 9 to 12 with the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Systems Integration Expo.
While NSCA officials said they had their highest number of attendees at this year’s event at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., foot traffic was reported to be moderate at the expo’s security pavilion. Many in attendance predicted PSA might consider returning doing its own conference and expo as it had done prior to partnering with NSCA in 2004.
During a 30-minute presentation at the PSA Security Network’s Owners Meeting, Security Sales & Integration Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine gave an early presentation of the findings of the magazine’s 2005 systems integrator study that appeared in its April issue.
“Our new research is helping carve out a definitive description of what the security systems integrator and security systems integration business is all about,” stated Goldfine, who included a detailed analysis of the characteristics and business practices of systems integrators. The meeting was one of the highlights during a week that included several PSA educational sessions and networking events.
Among those events was PSA’s presentation of its annual Vendor Appreciation Awards at a March 11 awards banquet.
Winning the top, Superstar Award prize were CSC/Southwest Wire, Dedicated Micros, Network Video Technologies (NVT) and Pelco. Star Awards went to Altronix, CBC America Corp., DITEK, Integral Technologies, International Fiber Systems (IFS), Securitron and Tamron, while Aiphone, Comprehensive ID Products Inc. (CIPI), Sanyo, TransTech Systems and Ultra Electronics earned the Rising Star Awards.
