As many as 66 additional security cameras will be installed at Easton Middle School located here as a result of alleged assaults and threats involving students.
The school currently has 30 indoor cameras. Forty more cameras will be installed inside the facility and another 26 will be installed outside, reports WBOC.com. The cameras will be mounted at the end of the school year so students cannot see where they are being placed.
Many parents believe the cameras will deter violence.
School official accepted the lowest bid of $60,523 for the camera installations. In order to pay for the work, school officials say some school maintenance projects in the county will be delayed.
