PRINCETON, Mass. – Fire and security alarms installed in town buildings here are currently not being monitored by a central station, according to the Princeton Board of Selectmen.
The board recently learned that at least four town buildings have alarms that are not being professionally monitored.
The buildings include the police station, Town Hall annex, Bagg Hall and the Department of Public Works. Board members noted, however, that the alarms would only be effective if an officer heard the alarm while driving by the property, Telegram.com reports.
Board members recommended that a company be hired on a multiyear contract to review the systems annually and to be the first point of contact in an emergency.
