Meet the Robot That Could Soon Be Your Building’s Overnight Security Guard

Gamma 2 Robotics designed RAMSEE to scan its environment with lasers and infrared cameras.

Don’t be alarmed if you see a robot patrolling the halls of your building; that’s just the security guard.

Yes, we have now reached the point where robots can provide round-the-clock monitoring of buildings. RAMSEE scans its environment to identify motion and signs of fire, smoke and gas leaks, as detailed by the Daily Mail. Gamma 2 Robotics designed the robot.

RAMSEE uses infrared vision, laser radar navigation, 360-degree cameras, heat sensing and toxic gas detection when scanning its surroundings. If they detect anything awry, they contact their human overseers.

Gamma 2 Robotics says the robot will do the job that the security industry struggles — particularly overnight security — to find staffing for and would be a cheaper alternative as well.
