MICROTEC ENTERPRISES ANNOUNCES 7.4% RISE IN YEAR-END RESULTS

ST. AUGUSTIN, Quebec, Canada

Microtec Enterprises Inc., a provider of residential security and automation services, announces its year-end results.

During the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, Microtec posted revenues of $24.5 million, compared with $22.8 million in the previous year, an increase of 7.4 percent. Revenue from monitoring activities and services rose from $21.7 million in 1999 to $23.3 million in 2000, also an increase of 7.4 percent. The increase stems from two sources: its recruitment of more than 20,000 new subscribers and more monthly revenue per subscriber.

Installation revenue also increased, from $1.2 million in 1999 to $1.3 million in 2000. “In fiscal 2000, Microtec focused on growth. “We added more than 20,000 new subscribers with an average monthly revenue of nearly $24, making 2000 an excellent year for recruitment,” says Raymond Gilbert, chairman and CEO. “In the coming year, we intend to recruit our new subscribers at a multiple of recurring revenues below that of previous years. We also expect to increase our presence and improve our profitability in this market. Lastly, we plan to capitalize on our partnership with Hydro-Quebec to promote a new range of products offering high-performance, energy-efficient home automation solutions.”
