SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – More than a learning and networking conference, the annual Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS) is oftentimes a launching pad to announce major strategic initiatives to Milestone Systems‘ integrator and vendor partners.
PODCAST: Milestone Changes Up Training/Certification Strategy
Such was the case at MIPS 2016, held here Feb. 23-25, during which executives spelled out in detail why the VMS provider is transforming from an “open platform company” to being the architect of an “open platform community.”
During his opening address, Milestone CEO Lars Thinggaard described the new approach as a “defining moment for our ecosystem.” Where previously the company viewed itself as the middle piece of the solution puzzle, Thinggaard said, it will now become one part of the community to maximize the business value of video management systems for partners and end customers.
By leveraging the partner community, Milestone said it is attempting to address the increasing market demand for delivering value faster. The intent is to enable increased partner-to-partner interaction and refining partners’ abilities to draw upon community resources and mutual marketing opportunities.
Milestone outlined several key steps it is taking to facilitate this new go-to-market philosophy. Among them:
- create an advisory board with partners and customers on roadmap prioritization
- establish a developer forum to strengthen the developer experience
- enhance the SDK design and developing more documentation of the API
- expand solution certifications to bolster reliability and ensure uniform quality
- build an online Milestone marketplace for partners to promote and sell their solutions
- introduce co-marketing programs to strengthen commercial collaboration
