Mission 500 Run Raises $26K for Haiti Relief
MIAMI
Mission 500, a nonprofit organization partnering with World Vision and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, raised nearly $26,000 for earthquake relief efforts in Haiti as part of the ING Half Marathon held here on Jan. 31
More than 20 people along with friends and family from South Florida’s electronic security industry participated in the event, held during the ING Miami Marathon. Each year the two races attract runners from all over the world who traverse an exceptionally scenic course that includes ocean stretches, the Art Deco District and Coconut Grove.
“It was a beautiful day with a 70-degree temperature at the start, and some sprinklings of rain halfway through to cool things off,” says Ian McCluskey, who was one of Mission 500’s top fundraisers at the event.
Mission 500’s goal was to raise $25,000 to help with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The 23 runners of the Mission 500 team were part of a larger World Vision team of almost 200 runners that combined raised more than $100,000 for the charitable cause.

Mission 500’s next industry initiative is a 5K charity run/walk at ISC West in Las Vegas on March 25. This first-of-a-kind event at an ISC Expo was conceived to engage new corporate sponsors as well as individuals within the security industry.
Altronix Corp., Axis Communications, HID Global, LRG Marketing Communications, Morse Watchmans and Safety Technology Int’l Inc. are charter sponsors. To learn more about the run/walk fundraiser or to register, click here.
