Monitoring Operator at The Protection Bureau Honored as ‘Unsung Hero’

Published: March 25, 2013

EXTON, Pa. — Micro Key Solutions has recognized Bob Gable, central station operator for The Protection Bureau, with the Unsung Hero Award for his role in saving a customer in a life-threatening situation.

In January 2012, Gable answered a call on one of The Protection Bureau’s emergency phones, commonly used for individuals stuck in an elevator. However, this particular call, which came in around 12:49 a.m., originated from a stairwell in a parking garage in West Chester, Pa.

Although no one spoke on the other side of the line, Gable heard a faint noise of someone moaning in the background and contacted the local police department. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man who had fallen down the steps, knocked the emergency phone off the hook and sustained numerous injuries. Police credited Gable’s diligent response for saving the man’s life.

Gable has served in the security industry for 13 years. In 2006, he joined The Protection Bureau’s staff as a regular third shift operator.
