Monitronics, RFI Security Renew CSAA Certification

Published: May 20, 2009

Monitronics Int’l of Dallas and RFI Security of San Jose, Calif., have renewed their Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) Five Diamond Certification.

The certification testifies the company’s central station operators have achieved proficiency and the necessary qualifications by passing the CSAA Central Station On-Line Operator Training course. All phases of central station communications with customers, law enforcement, fire and emergency services communications centers are covered in the course.

In order to achieve Five Diamond Certification, every operator must pass the course, as well as demonstrate proficiency in alarm verification, communications with emergency centers, show knowledge of electronic communications equipment, and be proficient in the area of emergency preparedness. Operators must also understand the codes and standards of organizations such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual (FM), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

There are about 2,700 central stations in the United States, which communicate and interact with law enforcement, fire and emergency services agencies. Fewer than 100 central stations in this group have achieved the Five Diamond Certified status.
