Monitronics Appoints New CEO; Haislip Will Serve in Interim Advisory Role
Jeffery Gardner arrives at Monitronics from the telecommunications industry, most recently serving as president and CEO of Windstream Holdings.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Ascent Capital Group (NASDAQ:ASCMA) announced today that Jeffery Gardner has been appointed CEO of Monitronics Int’l, effective Sept. 10. Gardner will succeed Michael Haislip, who is retiring from Monitronics as previously disclosed. Haislip will stay on in an advisory role during a transitionary period.
“Jeff brings a tremendous skill set as a leader in the telecommunications industry with a focus on relevant financial and operational experiences,” Bill Fitzgerald, Ascent Chairman and CEO, states in a press release. “His understanding of subscriber focused operating businesses, expertise in building companies both organically and through acquisition, and strong financial acumen will significantly benefit the Monitronics business as we capitalize on the growth opportunities we have in front of us.”
Fitzgerald thanked Haislip for his dedication and leadership during a nine-year run as CEO of Monitronics. Fitzgerald assumed the dual titles of president and CEO in 2006 after taking over the reins of the Dallas-based company from its founder, Jim Hull. Prior to that Haislip served as Monitronics’ vice president and COO.
