SAN DIEGO — Home security system installations are on the rise here as a result of violent robberies occurring, according to a Fox 5 San Diego report.

Eight homes have been broken into in the Rancho Bernardo, Sorrento Valley, Carmel Mount Ranch and Sabre Springs areas since Jan. 31. Authorities say the suspects gained entry into the houses through the side door, threatened the residents with a gun and bound them.

Police here are pleading with homeowners to help them collect more video surveillance of the robberies. So far, they’ve only received one clip of video footage from a home.

Keith Horowitz, owner of Alarm 200, said he has been biggest large amounts of calls in the Scripps Ranch and Rancho Bernardo areas.

“It typically takes either them having an incident or someone close to them having an incident, or in this case something that’s getting a lot of news coverage,” Horowitz said.
