On Jan. 1, Shooter Stein assumed the post of president of Nashville, Tenn., security systems installer National Certified Alarms Inc. (NCA), replacing his father, NCA’s founder, James Stein, who will remain CEO of the firm. Shooter began as an installer with the 12-employee firm, later assuming the post of vice president.
James Stein founded Allied Security Systems, a fire and burglar alarm company, in 1975. Stein then sold Allied in 1985 to National Guardian Security Services Inc., which was later acquired by Ameritech Corp. In 1989, James Stein founded Trucker Tapes Inc., a company that produced an audiocassette trade magazine for truck drivers. He sold that company in 1991.
NCA has approximately 6,000 customers in middle Tennessee, offering alarm monitoring services. The firm realized $1.5 million in 2004 and expects to gain another 1,500 customers this year.
