Nashville Central Station Gets 5 Diamond Certification

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) has awarded its highest level of certification to ADS Security of Nashville. ADS is now among the less than 100 central stations in the nation to receive the Five Diamond Certification. ADS is already the only central station in middle Tennessee with a UL-listing.

“If you’re UL plus a Five-Diamond, that’s where you want to be,” says ADS President Mel Mahler, who credits ADS Central Station Manager Lela Mullins for leading the monitoring company’s operators to the honor.  “I look on the wall and it has all the years of tenure of our employees and it’s amazing. Most stations have a high turnover. That’s a credit to Lela.”

To receive a Five Diamond Certification, all of a central station’s operators must pass CSAA’s Central Station Operator Training Course Level I or an equivalent Security Industry Association (SIA) course. All operators must also demonstrate knowledge of electronic communication equipment, proficiency in alarm verification, communications with Public Service Answering Points and emergency preparedness, and understanding of codes and standards.

Mahler credits CSAA’s online training program with speeding up the ability to train his operators.

“It started with using the computer and distance learning to help our operators learn. It’s just an excellent program,” says Mahler, CSAA’s immediate past president. “If that person can’t handle that test, you have the wrong person.”
