NBFAA CREATES FUND TO FAMILIES OF FALLEN POLICE, FIREFIGHTERS

SILVER SPRING, Md.

Late last week, the National Burglar and Fire Alarm
Association (NBFAA)
created a permanent memorial to the
police and firefighters who gave their lives in an effort
to save others at the World Trade Center complex Sept. 11,
after two hijacked commercial airplanes slammed into the
former Twin Towers.

“Within hours of the tragedy on Sept. 11, our staff began
to receive calls asking how members could help and
suggested that NBFAA dedicate its resources to reinforce
our support of the dedicated public servants who in their
work to save lives sometimes give their own,” says NBFAA
President Bart Didden. “The expansion of our
successful scholarship program is a natural way to show our
support—not only to the surviving family members of the
heroes of the trade center tragedy, but it reinforces our
support of the police and fire fighters who risk their
lives on our behalf each and every day. Our goal is to
create a dedicated fund that will enable us to fund ongoing
scholarships that will be available as the many surviving
sons and daughters come of age. The fund will enable us to
continue giving to the families of the fallen police and
firefighters for years to come.”

Didden added that the association is asking each of its
3,000-plus members nationwide to not only contribute to the
effort directly but solicit the contributions of its
thousands of employees and tens of thousands of customers.
NBFAA has arranged for contributions to be received
directly through the association or to be made through its
tax-exempt foundation, the Alarm Industry Research &
Education (AIREF).

NBFAA asks that tax-deductible contributions be made to
AIREF—Heroes Scholarship Fund, 8300 Colesville Road,
Suite 750, Silver Spring, Md, 20910. For more information
