NBFAA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE COMMENTS ON 1 ASSOCIATION ISSUE

SILVER SPRING, Md.

The National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association’s (NBFAA) executive committee has concluded the following on the one association concept at a special meeting held Feb. 15:

“NBFAA has encouraged dialogue regarding a unified industry because it believes the elimination of redundant effort and unity of action are best for all in the industry. It has not changed this belief; association members and others should rest assured that NBFAA’s commitment to represent, support and promote the electronic systems industry will never diminish in its resolve to enhance the strong foundation that the electronic systems dealer provides to the industry; the association acknowledges the mission of the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA)—to represent UL-Listed and/or FMRC-Approved central stations—and the Security Industry Association (SIA)—to represent electronic and physical security product manufacturers, specifiers and service providers; and the association is pleased that, while neither CSAA nor SIA believe it is in their best interest to explore unification at this time, NBFAA’s efforts have resulted in renewed commitments from them to explore methods to work together. NBFAA invites CSAA and SIA leaders to demonstrate their commitment by designating representatives to a working group to identify possibilities for cooperative efforts, as the association will do the same.”
