A lifetime of service to the alarm industry has earned a Nashville, Tenn., alarm company operator high honors from the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA). Mel Mahler, who founded Nashville’s ADS Security in 1989, was awarded with the NBFAA’s Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year award at an annual awards dinner held in conjunction with ISC West and the NBFAA Spring Conference in Las Vegas.
“Volunteerism doesn’t stop with Mel, he ensures that each of his ADS security branches are actively involved in and strongly supportive of their local and state association,” NBFAA President Scot Colby said during the April 4 evening event at the Treasure Island Resort and Casino. “He has gone beyond the call of duty, worked whole-heartedly as a volunteer and a leader, and for that, we thank him.”
Also awarded during the April 4 evening ceremony benefiting the Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF) was the Sara E. Jackson Award for NBFAA committee leadership. Receiving the honor this year was NBFAA Education Committee Chairman Paul Baran.
Earlier in the week, Harvey Eisenstadt, the associate member representative for the NBFAA Board of Directors, was given the NBFAA’s 2006 President’s Award during an April 3 luncheon.
