NBFAA Hires Washington Lobbyist

The National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) has retained the services of a veteran lobbyist to be its voice in Washington D.C. and state governments. John Chwat, president of Chwat & Co. Inc., will lead the NBFAA’s Government Affairs department, where he will monitor and analyze state and federal legislation of importance to the NBFAA and its members.

He has 34 years of government experience, serving on both sides of the aisle as chief of staff to the late Rep. John Breckinridge (D-Ky.) and Rep. Bill Boner (D-Tenn.), while acting as legislative assistant to the late Rep. Seymour Halpern (R-N.Y.).

“With John and his lobbying and research staff joining the NBFAA team, our members can rest assured that they have a formidable presence keeping watch and representing their interests in our nation’s capitol,” said NBFAA Executive Director Merlin Guilbeau in a statement. “The ability to contract with Chwat … will also be more cost-effective than staffing the Government Affairs department internally.”

To contact Chwat, contact him by phone at (703) 684-7703. or by E-mail at [email protected].
