NBFAA Invites Public Comment on SBSS-01, Remote Supervising Stations Standard

IRVING, Texas
Published: August 9, 2006

The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) invites public review and comment on the organization’s new Standard for Remote Supervising Station (SRSS-01). The document will be available on the organization’s Web site for review and comment from Aug. 11 through Sept. 25.

SRSS-01 defines the means whereby signals are sent from the protected premises to its point of reception. Also included are definitions on the receipt, recording and re-transmission of signals and the manner in which notification of emergency responders is to be executed.

The new NBFAA standard is to include details of signal transmission methods to be employed when sending fire alarms, supervisory and trouble signals, and restorals. Additionally, the new standard describes the various methods of facility construction and protection, installation and maintenance requirements for hardware and software, and operations and emergency procedures to be used.

A copy of the proposed SRSS-01 standard is available on NBFAA’s Web site at www.alarm.org. Send comments to Dale Eller, NBFAA director of education and standards at [email protected].
