Various committee meetings from the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) took place at ISC East and focused on different sector issues.
The “Industry Incorrect” panel discussion lead by Alan Pepper of Mitchell, Silberberg and Knupp discussed the possible effects from the current acquisitions and mergers between manufacturers, the importance of service quality by independent dealers in order to compete with larger companies, the pros and cons of offering bundling services, and the future of authorized dealer programs.
At NBFAA’s False Alarm Committee, members approved a new false alarm model ordinance for 2002. It will include a new framework pattern that will help municipalities to better establish fining fees. Also, the committee decided to establish a list of security company contacts for law enforcement agencies in case of a false alarm. Other NBFAA events at the show included focus groups on access control, structured wiring and alarm reporting.
Prior to committee meetings at ISC East, NBFAA held its 2001 Leadership Awards Luncheon in Weehawken, N.J., including the newly added NBFAA Partnership Award and State Chapter of the Year Award. NBFAA’s prestigious President’s Award was presented to Security Sales’ Eastern Sales Manager Steven V. Peterson for his contributions to the association.
