NBFAA Relocating Headquarters to Texas

SILVER SPRING, Md.
Published: July 5, 2005

The National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) is moving its headquarters to Irving, Texas, by the end of the month, leaving the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The NBFAA has been based in Silver Spring, Md., since 2000 after previously being based five miles away in Bethesda. The move to Irving will be completed by July 25.

NBFAA Executive Director Merlin Guilbeau says the move was made to both reduce facility costs and to create a more convenient site for the association to reach its members.

“From [Dallas Fort-Worth Int’l] airport, we can travel anywhere in the continental United States within four hours or less. The region’s central time zone provides added flexibility in supporting and servicing our members,” Guilbeau says. “The savings on facility costs alone will translate into better programs and enhanced deliverables for our membership.”

The new NBFAA home base will be located at 2300 Valley View Lane, Suite 230 in Irving, which lies between downtown Dallas and the DFW Airport.

The NBFAA says it has spent much of the year considering sites for relocation. Among those considered were sites in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee and other spots in Texas. Criteria used to determine the final location were accessibility, availability of talent, cost of doing business, quality of life, transportation options, cost of traveling into and out of the area, commuting time and climate.
