Nest Protect Smoke Alarm Returns at Lower Price
Nest has reintroduced its Nest Protect combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector after voluntarily pulling the product a few months ago.
It’s baaaack!
Months after pulling the product from shelves, the Nest Protect is returning to stores, with a lower price.
The Nest Protect is a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector, which could be integrated with the Nest Learning Thermostat. However, the company voluntarily pulled the product back in April because of concerns over the new “Wave” feature, saying that it was too easy to disarm-which is probably not something you want in the event of an actual emergency.
The Wave feature allowed users to disarm the system with a wave of a hand. The newly released edition of the product doesn’t include the Wave option. However, the company says it’s still working on a solution.
The new Nest Protect will sell for $30 cheaper than when it was first announced back in October 2013. It’s available now, with an MSRP of $99.
