A new networking group aims at recruiting and retaining top women talent in the electronic security industry. The organizers behind Women in Security Electronics (WISE) say the nonprofit group will assist women by providing professional development, mentoring, networking and greater exposure within the industry.
Despite the name, WISE’s membership will be open to both men and women in the electronic security industry according to Dedicated Micros Executive Vice President Jennifer Walczak. “We encourage men in the industry to become members too,” says Walczak, who will serve as WISE’s membership chair. “They play a big part in our success because they appreciate the important contributions women in the security industry have made over the years.”
The prime force behind the group’s formation has been Holly Lagsdin, who is vice president of sales for the international fiber systems division of GE Infrastructure, Security. “There are women in this industry doing great things yet we, for the most part, don’t know one another,” Lagsdin says. “We are missing a great opportunity to support and learn from each other.”
WISE will officially be launched at ISC West in Las Vegas during an April 5 networking event. For more information, contact (770) 495-8700, ext. 112 or access www.womeninsecurityelectronics.com.
