Caesars Atlantic City Hotel Casino has been fined $80,000
by New Jersey casino regulators for using surveillance
cameras to spy on female employees and customers. In three
instances in 2000 and 2001, camera operators at Caesars
recorded “footage of selected parts of the anatomy of
several females,” according to the Associated
Press.
According to authorities, they violated statutes governing the use of cameras by casinos. Investigators with the state Division of Gaming Enforcement were tipped off by a Caesars surveillance supervisor. Investigators also obtained videotapes from the hidden cameras.
One tape from 2000 had 16 minutes of footage of several females while another tape made the same night contained 80 minutes of video. Two casino employees had been fired as a result of the incidents. Two female employees were also fired from Caesars’ surveillance department for allegedly complaining about the use of the cameras to videotape women.
