The Security Industry Association (SIA) has developed its First Responders Educational Scholarship for first responders such as police, EMT emergency personnel, firefighters and hazmat teams. With tight municipal budgets and employees looking for supplemental resources to help cover needed training, scholarships are to be awarded to volunteer or publicly paid first responders and applied to security and life-safety related courses. The maximum award per student is $500 to go toward tuition and required materials from courses. Students may submit to have books or materials that are mandatory for any course to be covered.
