LAS VEGAS—Western Digital recently unveiled its latest addition to the Purple Pro family of storage solutions: the 26TB WD Purple.
Western Digital asserts that it developed the Pro HDD, purpose-built for smart video solutions. The company points out that as the highest-capacity drive in the Purple Pro enterprise-class HDD lineup of storage products, the new 26TB WD Purple Pro CMR HDD delivers reliable, high-capacity storage designed to efficiently manage multiple streams of high-definition video, images, and metadata.
Explaining the release of its latest product, Western Digital notes that with the increasing need for 24/7 recording and high-definition video surveillance, the 26TB WD Purple Pro HDD is built on Western Digital’s 11-disk platform to deliver the performance and durability needed for large-scale video storage. Designed with the company’s ePMR technology, which Western Digital suggests is ideal for AI-enabled recorders, video analytics appliances, deep-learning servers, cloud-based storage, and demanding environments helps ensure reliable, high-performance storage for surveillance systems while keeping data accessible and protected at all times.
Western Digital 26TB Purple Pro Hard Drive Engineered for Enterprise-Grade Security Applications
During the annual ISC West 2025 show earlier this year, the global company featured the new Purple Pro hard drive, which it says provides the highest levels of reliability for use in enterprise security environments. Western Digital specifies the 26TB Purple Pro hard drive to offer up to 25 million hours MTBF, and to validate its reliability, the hard drive is backed with a five-year warranty.
Additional product highlights include:
- AllFrame AI technology to support up to 64 single-stream HD cameras or 32 AI streams for deep learning analytics and reducing frame drops
- Workload rating up to 550TB/year to keep up with 24/7 data capture and analysis demands

Western Digital adds that 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of its Purple storage line, which the company boasts is a significant milestone in delivering purpose-built solutions for surveillance.
