New York Alarm Company Adds Former Adelphia Accounts to Portfolio

AMHERST, N.Y.

New York State alarm company Amherst Alarm has acquired the
assets of what was once Adelphia Security’s Buffalo, N.Y.,
office. Amherst Alarm purchases assets of former Adelphia
subsidiary. Terms were not disclosed for the purchase from
Devcon Security Services Corp., which HREF=’t_ci_newsView.cfm?nid=2155′ TARGET=’_blank’>acquired
the electronic security properties of Adelphia
Communications Corp.
in March.

The purchase adds 2,500 accounts to Amherst’s 12,000-
customer base.
Amherst says it plans to retain the current employees at
the former Adelphia office, and expects to staff the branch
with four to five more workers by the end of the year.

“This is a small, yet significant success for our area, in
that jobs are retained and will make more positions
possible in the future,” says Amherst CEO and co-founder
Tim Creenan.

It is the fifth acquisition for Amherst in the past four
years. The company, founded in 1984, most recently HREF=’t_ci_articleView.cfm?aid=1901&sid=0′ TARGET=’_blank’>
purchased Boston, N.Y., security provider Dotzler Security
and Communications
in December.
