James Neely, owner of Allied Security in Las Cruces, notes that video surveillance systems can be beneficial for business owners because the equipment can store months-worth of images on the cloud should they be needed in the event of a crime.

Additionally, surveillance systems can serve as a deterrent for would-be criminals. To be effective crime deterrents, however, security cameras need to be placed in clear view.

Neely estimates that it would cost companies roughly $2,000 to install a security system with four high-resolution cameras that record and store data on the cloud. An eight-camera system would run between $3,600 and $4,000.
