NICE Systems, a provider of video management systems specializing in corporate and government applications, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the security management solution assets of Orsus in an all-cash deal for $22 million.

Based in Irvine, Calif., Orsus is a maker of physical security information management (PSIM) software. The integration of its Situator security management solution with NICE’s offerings will enable NICE to provide a comprehensive, pre-integrated portfolio of security management solutions tailored for specific market niches, according to the company.

“This acquisition follows a successful partnership with Orsus,” says Israel Livnat, president of NICE Systems’ security group. “The integrated solution will help our customers overcome the challenge of managing multiple siloed security and safety systems, for better protecting city centers, transportation hubs and critical infrastructure.”

The deal, which is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, is expected to close toward the end of 2009.
