The National Institute for Certification in Engineering
Technologies (NICET) is introducing a new series of
certification tests for video security technicians. Passing
the tests allows a technician eligible to hold the
label “Certification by NICET.”
The first two exams – “Video Security System Technician
Level I Certification” and “Video Security System
Technician Level II” – are being launched in April. The
exams, developed in partnership with the Security Industry
Association (SIA) will build up to four levels of
professional certification for video security systems
technicians and a two-tiered certification program for
video security systems designers.
“This new family of six certifications forms a professional
career path for video security systems technicians and
designers by taking the industry knowledge and expertise
that they use everyday on their jobs and using it to
demonstrate their competency by earning Certification by
NICET,” said Brian Gifford, manager of certification
development for NICET, in a statement.
The exams are being conducted through computer-based
testing at more than 300 test centers throughout the United
States. Appointments may be made for any business day. Fees
for each exam will be $180.
