NJBFAA Honors Respected Members at Busy Symposium

The New Jersey Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NJBFAA) announces its 2010 Symposium shattered previous attendance records with more than 600 industry professionals taking part in the event.

Held Jan. 27-29 at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J., the conference featured a products and services expo, a wide variety of training courses, guest speakers,  among other activities.

The last day of the event included the NJBFAA general meeting, during which a new Board of Directors was elected and several statewide awards were bestowed to recognize leadership and dedication to the industry.

Alarm Dealer of the Year was presented to Ira Hosid of IRA Security Systems, who is celebrating his 40th anniversary in the business.

Joe Camarata of Mid-Atlantic Representatives was named Associate Member of the Year. Camarata is a member of the New Jersey chapter of InfraGARD, a partnership between the FBI and the private sector dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States.

The Frank Smith Memorial Award for Public Safety was given to Chief John Lightbody, who currently serves as Toms River Township Fire Prevention & Protection Officer, as well as Toms River Township’s fire subcode official.

Assemblyman Vincent Prieto (D-32 Dist.), a Secaucus resident, received the Distinguished Public Service Award. Prieto is a construction code official and served on the Secaucus Planning Board. He was recognized by NJBFAA for championing new legislation that addresses several flaws in the state’s original licensing law.

To conclude the awards program, Chris Mosley of Complete Security Systems received the President’s Award. Chosen by NJBFAA President Chris Mack, Mosley was selected for going above and beyond the call of duty and serving the association and the industry by providing advice and assistance.
